Backtrack and Rewind

In order to know who you are, you must know where you came from...

Let's take this into context, shall we? I can't post any new recipes until I've talked about what I've done so far!

New York Style Cheesecake with Mixed Berry Topping

SD made this for our month-a-versary of some sort a while back ago (which explains the heart shaped awesomeness ^_^). He followed the recipe that's on the back of the Philadelphia Cream Cheese box. The fruit topping is merely mixed berries in simple syrup, heated until the berries soften. The crust is made from an egg white, crushed Nilla wafers, and butter.

Mardi Gras King Cake

This was not one of my crowning achievements... this "cake" is revered by many as a key staple in any Mardi Gras party. I cheated and used frozen bread dough instead of making my own with yeast. Yeast scares me. The fact that it just.. multiplies in warm water.. weirds me out. Anyways, this recipe created this oversimplified cinnamon roll that was covered in cream cheese frosting and sprinkles. Another vice: the plastic baby thats "hidden" in the cake. Finding just ONE plastic baby at Party City is no simple task.

Tie-Dye cake... Rainbow cake... I LOVE IT cake

This was my absolute favorite project ever. EVAH. Recipe found at : http://www.omnomicon.com/rainbowcake. Really easy too.. you start with boxed cake mix (follow the directions up until the baking part) and then separate out the batter into however many colors you want. Each portion of batter gets a color splash by way of food coloring. You then drop the batter in the center, alternating colors in whatever pattern suits your fancy. The colors will spread out as you drop more batter on. Bake according to directions and the results are amazing!

Here they are in cupcake form: frosted and unfrosted.

*Pheew* part one. I'm tired. More later!
